Info

This camp is geared toward incoming 6th graders for the 2019-2020 school year. We will focus on those critical skills necessary to thrive in 6th grade math. I am just finishing my seventh year teaching 6th grade math. Over the past seven years, I have taught on level, accelerated and intervention math classes. I find the transition to middle school math can be difficult for some students. The workload is heavier and the students are converging from several different schools/teachers. I have put together a fun, engaging curriculum to ease that transition. We will focus on fraction, decimal and whole number manipulation and increased number sense. The students will work on estimation so they know if their answer makes sense . We will problem solve using the UPS Problem Solving Model which focuses on Understanding, Planning, Solving and Checking. I will provide instruction and engaging activities that increase their confidence for their transition to middle school.
